Video Summary!
May 2010
To the Amazing 10.0 Club Members,
I cannot believe another year has
come and gone already and I am now heading into my Senior year!
This year has been a priceless experience for me. Each
year, Seniors graduate and new Freshman join the team and
adjustments are made but we always have the same goals and
aspirations. This year was full of ups and downs, and
highs and lows, but we never lost sight of those goals. We
banded together and showed what it means to be a true Golden
Gopher and support each other despite obstacles and adversities.
I am so proud of my team this year for the way we persevered and
finished our season strong.
At our end of the year banquet we
had a few awards that are presented each year. The
Mariam Award as well as the Most Valuable Performer went to
senior Alexis
RUSSELL, our Freshman Of The Year was Shannon GOLICH,
and the Most Improved Award was given to junior Ana BALBOA.
Twelve of the team members earned letter awards as well.
I specifically want to thank all of
you boosters, alums, parents, and fans. We could not be
successful without your continued support. Seeing all of
you at each meet waving your rally towels, singing the Rouser
and cheering loud is exactly what inspires us and helps us
strive for that perfect 10.0 each time. We really are a
family—out-of-town parents hug each girl after our meets as if
she were their own. Words of encouragement and
congratulations come from every direction from so many different
people. I cannot adequately express my gratitude to you
for all that you do for us. This year has been an
incredible journey and I am so glad that you were a part of it
as well.
This summer we are all staying
around campus and training at Peik Gym. Some of us are
taking summer classes and some of us will pick up jobs and
internships. All of us are thirsty for next season and are
rearing and ready to go! We will be training hard in the
gym working to perfect our skills as well as throw in some new
ones! In addition to training we will be weight lifting
with our strength coach, Kelly SPRIGGS, who will be sure
to keep us in great shape as we prepare for next season.
You can be sure that most of us will go home for a few weeks at
the beginning or end of the summer to enjoy some quality time
with our family and friends back home.
I look forward to another year with
the Gophers next year as one of four seniors as well as next
year’s captain. I am so thankful for the journey I have
been on thus far and I am excited and ready to begin the final
chapter of my time here as a Golden Gopher gymnast. I hope
to see you all next year in the 2011 season!
